Topic: being sued by Attorney General of Canada Posted: 20/May/2010 at 4:21am |
so i finished school in may of 2007, and currently have $9, 150 that they are trying to get from me. i'm baffled as to how to proceed because i had no idea this was coming. they have the wrong address, but i asked the people living at it and they have received nothing for me(old roommates give me whatever mail i still had coming, while i changed all my address info) and i didnt get any phone calls, emails, voicemails left. i dont answer unknown calls, so if any of those were them, they didnt leave me a voicemail to call back with. i was making minimum payments but had to stop because i was financially unable to. i should make decent money, but after living expenses in alberta, there isn't much left.i have no family to help me out. i can't afford a lawyer and dont have a clue as to what the process here is, or what i have to do now. can i settle without going to court? if i could pay the remaining money off would i contact the lawyer stated in the statement of claim i got yesterday? i have 15 days to make contact and i dont even know what is required of me! help! i dont want to avoid my loan, i just am having a hard time, and even trying to save for school as i am going back in september! my job ends in a couple months, and i cant have my wages garnished....*sigh* feels hopeless. anything anyone can tell me that would help clarify? i dont even know what or how to write up a statement of defence or demand of notice!! thanks...

If you want help you can call us. We specialize in dealing with this sort or problem for student loan borrowers. You have to become a client but the costs are rather small. If you are looking for someone to do this for free that will give you long-term to permanent relief you will not find it.

That all depends on who you actually owe and what your current circumstances are. If you want me to assess this for ya you can call the office if you want to become a client. If youa re being sued though the approach should be a preemptive one. If you are going to throw money at them right away then their tactical approach has worked out the way they wanted it to. They can then toy with you to get the most of you they can.
