This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their upcoming changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities can't plan. I've heard of courses being cut because the government has no process in place for universities to send the newly required acceptance letters to the government.

This means that students who have been accepted can not attend courses that start in the summer 2024 semester. With cut sections, current Canadian students will have trouble getting courses, and may have to switch to part-time which changes their enrollment status and might trigger repayment of their loans or ineligibility for funding. I've seen this before. It wreaks havoc on the student loan borrowers.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment. Will the new system needed in a rush for the acceptance letters be the new Arrivecan scandal?

I call on the government to implement a slower phased in approach and delay the requirement of the acceptance letters until a process is in place to submit these letters.

Well. I do believe this calls for a Merry Christmas!

Three years of university, three years of student loans, one car accident, and 13 years of pain brought me here today. How could one tiny car accident have such an impact on my life … yet the pain I endured certainly made things very real. Cynical is definitely a word I would use to describe the me I became. I lost faith in our government, our medical community, and people.

Why am I telling you this? Because 3 years ago I was wondering how to get out from under all this debt and asking advice from a bankruptcy trustee. I was scared to death of living life in this pain and being indebted to the tune of over $40,000.00 and growing, with creditors just beginning to make their harassing phone calls and me still going crazy with pain. I just couldn't deal with it.

I came across the site www.canadastudentdebt.ca while looking for alternatives to Bankruptcy and then found The CFW Group Inc. and Mr. John Leblanc on the site. Did I mention I was very cynical of everyone by this time? I started looking into this one-of-a-kind company, researched it, Googled and read pages and pages of information and finally looked it up on the BBB. After considerable thought I decided what could it hurt to call and talk to Mr. LeBlanc? If Bankruptcy was in my future and John was asking for three years to avoid it, then I thought what the heck? He only asked two things of me; have patience and trust him to do his job. Two very, very difficult tasks for me.

I can say without a doubt John Leblanc is a miracle worker. If nothing else when the creditors stopped calling he was more then worth the fee he was charging. I wonder, should I repeat that sentence for those of us who get frustrated by the process? But the stopped calls wasn't all there was to John and his services. I panicked more then once, making phone calls to ask the same questions John had already answered, but answer them he did each and every time for three years. It must have frustrated him to no end every time I asked the same question … but hey I was going crazy in more ways then one.

Three years almost to the day I called John for a consult, that wonderful trust I placed in John came in the form of a phone call. November 30th 2011 the over $22,000 guaranteed portion of my student loans were settled for $3,500. That's half my student debt. Gone. Wow. I'm still not quite sure I believe it's done, I'm in shock, and still walking around like I've been run over by a big truck … but the proof is in my hands and John did exactly as he said he would :) Can you believe those numbers?

I think over the years John trusted me more then I trusted him. I know that's awful to say, but I already admitted to being really, really fed up with everything. I can say, without a doubt in my mind, Mr. John Leblanc is one-of-a-kind when it comes to what he does for those of us who place our trust in him. He is worth every single penny I paid for his services and I would recommend anyone having trouble with student or consumer debt call Mr. LeBlanc of The CFW Group Inc.

The only thing I can say is Thank You John LeBlanc with a silent 'c'. You really are gifted when it comes to dealing with highly stressed people, in highly stressed situations … not everyone is capable of doing that. I hope and pray your services are around for many years to come.

Did I mention John is now in the process of helping me resolve the remaining portion of my student debt? After 13 years I can FINALLY say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and boy am I glad I was patient and trusted in his ability to do his job.

Maybe I should pat myself on the back for being so patient and trusting lol ... that in itself was a miracle.

God Bless,

Tanya
