This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their upcoming changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities can't plan. I've heard of courses being cut because the government has no process in place for universities to send the newly required acceptance letters to the government.

This means that students who have been accepted can not attend courses that start in the summer 2024 semester. With cut sections, current Canadian students will have trouble getting courses, and may have to switch to part-time which changes their enrollment status and might trigger repayment of their loans or ineligibility for funding. I've seen this before. It wreaks havoc on the student loan borrowers.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment. Will the new system needed in a rush for the acceptance letters be the new Arrivecan scandal?

I call on the government to implement a slower phased in approach and delay the requirement of the acceptance letters until a process is in place to submit these letters.

I have to extend my most heart felt thanks to John Leblanc and CFW. I had $22,000 in defaulted student loans. I was being harassed several times a day by CBCL and I was desperate. I did not know where to turn for help. CBCL demanded payment in full within 30 days, and I did not know my rights regarding such matters. I was lost, I was sick with worry and stress. I made an appointment with a local credit-counseling firm. The advice I received there was to hold out, ignore the calls and declare bankruptsy. Great advice…NOT REALLY! I was then fortunate enough to contact John Leblanc at CFW. We had a lengthy discussion about my situation, and after that first phone call I knew things were going to get better. John was a true professional, he was knowledgeable, and had a great way of communicating the knowledge he had, to me in a way I could easily understand. I was really made to feel at ease, and for the first time I was respected and not made to feel like a loser or a bum because of the predicament I had found myself in. John developed a plan of action for my case, set it in motion, and that was when I really began to appreciate what this man could do. No more calls, no harassment, I could get on with trying to rebuild my life. It has been about 4 months since I called John that first time and now, I can actually forget about my debt on most days. Since then John has been a great asset to me in other matters regarding rebuilding my credit and working towards financial freedom and success. His help has been a key factor in my recent career change and even today he is continuing to help me establish myself in my new position. I officially give my recommendation to anybody who finds themselves in a difficult position with student loans, or debt in general to contact CFW and John Leblanc. I will gladly speak personally to anybody who would like to here more detailed information about what CFW has done to help me. Once again John, thank you for all that you have done, and continue to do to assist me. Although we have never met face to face, I consider you a friend. Thank you.

There was a post by this newbie named "windows" that was bashing me in another forum. Somehow, the post was retracted by the creator (windows).

Windows was defending bankruptcy and bashing me. That is traditional behavior from someone who supports a specific matter, and wishes to retaliate against an opposition. I just wish Windows would have been a little more mature in writing what he or she wrote.

Windows evidently deleted his or her post after realizing it's attack on me. Who knows. As far as I am concerned, how can something that I do which helps people beocme well be a bad thing????

The opposition and bashing criticism I receive is from the bankruptcy and debt pooling industry mainly because: I expose them for what they truly are, offer more productive and beneficial services, and charge such low rates for service to achieve financial wellness and sustainability.

In many cases, bankruptcy is simply a band aid that is placed only "near" the wound (the wound being a financial crisis) thus causing the wound not to heal properly - and opening the door for a secondary infection to come about at any time. That preventative medication is reassurance, truth, mentoring, navigation, and skills development, lifestyle counseling, some psycho-nutrition, and positive reinforcement - all of which the bankruptcy and debt-pooling (non-profit credit counseling schemes) do not provide.

To put it even more simply, "Big Johnny" -- they lose money!!!

You know, if someone wants to debate you, they can do it calmly and maturely. When they start fighting dirty, it's just a sign that they have a vested interest in discrediting you. That's when they lose all credibility with me.

Only proves that those in the biz have very little brain because they haven't figured that out yet...their true colours ALWAYS shine through in the end...and it's those true colours that attracted them to making money off of other people's misfortunes in the first place...

I feel like bursting into a Cyndi Lauper song all of sudden...don't know why...

Noooo...don't you remember the song "True Colours?" with the video where she wore the newspaper tutu? From the Cyndi Lauper album that DIDN'T sell?

Am I dating myself again?

Hi all!

Well here was my situation....I was about to be sued....no actually I was successfully SUED for what I think is peanuts compared to some of the amounts on here. I came across this website while trying to reasearch my options. I read most of the posts on the site and was curious about CFW group and John leblanc....believe me I was more than sceptical(too good to be true comes to mind) so I checked and checked and hemmed and hawed then finally called him WITHIN 20 min probably less he had the situation under control and a gigantic weight offf my shoulders, I recieved a fax from the collection agency saying that they stopped the garnishee order....this was after I heard John on the other line talk to them!

Needless to say I was able to work out an arangement with John and John was able to take care of them on my behalf

IF I can say one thing is TALK TO THIS MAN! At least see what your options are, Inform yourself and most of all It doesn't have to be as intimidating as it seems

"Johnny Angel" as someone else stated is at it again! Kudos to this amazing person!
