This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their upcoming changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities can't plan. I've heard of courses being cut because the government has no process in place for universities to send the newly required acceptance letters to the government.

This means that students who have been accepted can not attend courses that start in the summer 2024 semester. With cut sections, current Canadian students will have trouble getting courses, and may have to switch to part-time which changes their enrollment status and might trigger repayment of their loans or ineligibility for funding. I've seen this before. It wreaks havoc on the student loan borrowers.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment. Will the new system needed in a rush for the acceptance letters be the new Arrivecan scandal?

I call on the government to implement a slower phased in approach and delay the requirement of the acceptance letters until a process is in place to submit these letters.

Hi everybody,

This isn't a student debt issue - and I hope I will never have to post this subject line in relation to a student debt issue, but it definitely IS about Nordon.  This forum seems to have some people who have had experiences with this company, so I hope you won't mind if I come here for some help, even if it's slightly off topic.   Lately I've been seeing the number for Nordon on my call display.  Normally I don't answer any phone calls that appear to be coming from a company because I assume that it's some kind of solicitor trying to sell me something I don't need (and from the looks of things, they're trying to actually offer me harassment for free in this instance!).  They have never left a message - until today. The guy was like "Hello....?" and said the names of me and my old roommate, with whom I parted ways and moved into new apartments in July of 2004.  I transferred all of my utility services over to my new address and have therefore been in contact with the utility companies over the last year. I am not in arrears, according to the utility companies, for any of my accounts from the old apartment.   This leads to the question "Why is Nordon phoning my house and looking for me and my old roommate?"

I'd really like it if any people on here who've had run-ins with these guys can give me as much information possible about them, because so far from what I've read, they sound like unsavoury types.  Have you heard of many instances of Nordon wrongfully going after people who don't owe any money? Before I even think about talking to these guys I want to be fully armed with as much knowledge as possible.  Thanks very much in advance for all your help.

Matthew,
They may be calling you in hopes of getting any info. they can from you about your friend....he may owe something???

If they call again....ask if this pertains to you...if not...ask them to not contact you again or speak to a supervisor and explain they have the wrong person.
