This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their upcoming changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities can't plan. I've heard of courses being cut because the government has no process in place for universities to send the newly required acceptance letters to the government.

This means that students who have been accepted can not attend courses that start in the summer 2024 semester. With cut sections, current Canadian students will have trouble getting courses, and may have to switch to part-time which changes their enrollment status and might trigger repayment of their loans or ineligibility for funding. I've seen this before. It wreaks havoc on the student loan borrowers.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment. Will the new system needed in a rush for the acceptance letters be the new Arrivecan scandal?

I call on the government to implement a slower phased in approach and delay the requirement of the acceptance letters until a process is in place to submit these letters.

Hi Guys..

(Johnny I'm still around.. this is why you haven't heard from me.)

It's been a while since I have felt up to posting messages..  I've been going through a very difficult time, trying to make myself do what others think I should do and what I would like to do.

I had myself convinced that I could somehow get back to work and was trying hard to get back in the saddle. so to speak.. I kept taking on more work, pushing myself harder and harder. Yes It was getting stressful but I kept telling myself I could do it..  Along with this I still had my son as an added stress factor..  Above all, I really want to get rid of my student loan problem.

I thought things were going good, I had been keeping so busy that I has been ignoring how stressed out I was getting.. Then a couple of weeks ago the mobile home 3 doors down caught on fire.. Real scary being so close together and the direction the wind was blowing..  We could still smell the smoke in our place a few days later. This was the day it totally hit me, the bottom fell out and I fell apart..  When your  bladder stops working, you know there is a real problem. I was panicking, hot and cold sweats, irritated and could not relax no matter what I did. My mind kept racing worrying about everything that could passably go wrong with fire being on the top of the list. The sound of the furnace blower seemed so load it keep me awake and bothered me. I only slept when I was so tired I couldn't stay awake.. At the same time I notice a rash developing in a couple of places.. I was so tired but couldn't get enough sleep and started feeling weaker and weaker..

I finally dragged myself to the doctors office.. My doctor was not available but the one I saw quickly diagnosed a cases of
shingles - (chickenpox revisited in adults) For the next week my main project was managing this problem.. taking medication to fight it..  After a week plus I was still feeling weak but had to go back to the doctor for a follow up.. This time I got my own doctor who knows my history and we had a long talk.. It was agree that I really needed to get control of my stress.. a long time problem that I had been stubbornly trying to manage by myself.. I had to admit that I could no longer do it on my own and despite by fear of taking medication, I needed help fast.

I'm now taking medication for my stress and finding it much easier to manage my life. Hopefully this will not be a long term thing, just something for a while until things are back under control. Only time will tell.. I can relax now and my mind is not racing all the time. I can even fall asleep quickly after going to bed instead of tossing and turning for hours as my mind races on in full gear.. For now it is good.. I really need some peace in my life!

I mention this for others who are being bother by worry and stress.. don't leave it too long, don't let it take you out... Get help and take care of your self as quickly as possible. You are not weak or a failure because you ask for help.. Above all you must take care of your health!

Johnny.. If you read this.. I still would appreciate your help! I have not been able to get you on the phone of by email.. I will try to get you again... hopefully we can get something started very soon!
