Topic: Improving Financial Situation Posted: 05/November/2014 at 5:10am |
Over the last year or so, I have had a great improvement in my financial situation. I'm not yet able to pay the debt in full, but I can begin making payments again. Here's the problem: All of the negative information has aged off of my credit report. As a result, my available credit on my credit cards and overall credit score has improved enormously. How do I begin repayment without re-aging the negative info that has now fallen off my credit report causing it to reappear, destroying my hard work to get back on track? This is the Ontario portion of a student loan secured between 2002 and 2006. What are the chances of them taking me to court, or can I push my luck for two more years of savings and pay it all off in one lump sum? Thanks in advance for your help.

Almost tempted to put $10,000 ($24,000 available credit on four cards) of student loan debt on my credit cards (19% interest) just to eliminate the potential legal hassle and destroyed credit report.
Sadly, I can't qualify for a line of credit due to the self-employment nature of my income. I need two years of Notice of Assessments, where the first one won't be available until April. So, back to the same problem. Two years before I can borrow to clear it or save to pay it in full.
This huge jump in available credit that has occurred over the last year is the reason why I am back in EOS's target group, I am sure. I keep seeing their name appear in the soft enquiries list on the credit report every time my credit limits increase.
So how the heck do I pay without destroying my credit with a reappearance of the collection item?? Growl!!
Johnny, can you negotiate a payment arrangement for me that forces them not to report to the credit bureau if I honour the agreement?

If you have to pay 19% I wouldn't recommend doing that. Demonstrating good faith and protecting yourself is not hard to do. If you want to make a payment arrangement with the system I can help you so that you can do just that without all of the resistances and headaches of the collection systems up-sell and "I smell money" racket.
Your credit may not even be impacted at this point. I can;t say for sure without seeing what it going on in the back end of things (At the Ontario CMU and MTCU levels).
You are caught in a crisis that many are experiencing - the "How do I pay without opening a nasty can of vipers, and how can I protect my personal credit stats while doing so?"
First you have to know the system, how it works and thinks, and what safeguards are there for you. It isn't easy as you can see.
So, before doing something out of frustration, panic, or impulse - know your options and safeguards. Then deal with the issue with an approach that is reasonable, safe, and that will not subject you to risk and damage. Making decisions and acting out frustration, panic, or fear adds risk and added hardship.
Having available credit on a credit card is a good thing. However, what you use that credit line for is what makes or breaks you, financially and your reputation as a consumer. Credit cards aren't for paying student loans. Nor is going to a high-interest finance company like so many are "ordered" to do or else face severe consequences. That in fact can backfire on those who act and behave this way. It is unprofessional and barbaric.
If you want this done the right way without the risks and whatnot I can hep you but it isn't free. If you want a one-on-one with me for direction, opportunity and benefit discovery, strategy, and the advice it will cost you $130.00. Will take about 30-40 minutes. You would be surprised how much one benefit or opportunity or another will save you time and money if you qualify for it. That is the most important thing here before anything, - what benefit or opportunity is available that will save you time, money, and headaches.
It's your call. If you want to book in for a telephone app you can contact us at 902-861-1210 or 866-239-7889. If you get voice mail simply leave your name, tele #, and a time to contact you, and we will make arrangements. Or, visit www.cfwgroup.ca and hit me up using the contact us page.

Great talking to you too. Looks like we had a bit of a miscommunication about today's phone call. Hope you're not calling tonight instead. That's way too late for you. Anyhow, I dont see the big rush in my case, so no worry.

| Sounds good, Johnny. Work starts at 10am every day except Wednesday and Sunday doing 12 hour shifts. I have a window of time starting from 9:25 AM EST. Let's get this finalized so you have the info you need to proceed. Thanks again.
