QuoteReplyTopic: Loan collection after default since 2004 Posted: 27/April/2021 at 8:46pm
Hi there,
My student loan has been in default since 2005 due to a disability(I was not diagnosed until after I graduated).
I am currently almost done paying off my provincial portion of my student loan. But my Canada student loan is nearly impossible to pay off as I cannot afford it. They(CRA collections) told me over the phone that my interest was above a few thousand dollars, and that I could not begin to make payments until I paid it off in full. When I spoke with actual student loans they couldnt seem to find my canada student loan and said to call the CRA collections to find out(Which i did months ago, pretty sure it was collections)
My question is, since it has been 16+ years and my last payment was in 2005, is there a way I can get it expunged? I heard that getting it waived is near impossible. I really would like to regain my credit to good standing.
I haven't made a single payment since 2005 but it still shows up on my credit report. I am really really badly wanting to fix my credit and try to begin a life, one where I can rent an apartment on my own.
Any help with options ideas would be GREATlY appreciated!
There is a way if you can pass the tests for this as per the CSLFAA or limitations. If you still need help with this let me know and I can figure this all out for you.
