Hi there,

The Nova Scotia portion of my student loan from 2003 is now apparently crown debt  But RBC or Resolve have no record of it. basically, I got NS student loan in 2003, but from 2004 onwards I was getting student bursaries from Québec instead (Québec gives disabled students bursaries rather than loans.)  In 2006, I moved back to the UK, to study, but have been getting bursaries from Québec since then. I was pretty depressed when I left in 2006, and also had really bad tendinitis (which I still have), which meant that I fell behind in updating records etc. Basically, I didn’t realize that Québec wouldn’t let the federal or provincial student loan programs know that I continue to be in full-time studies.  I called the national student loan service center, and my federal loan has been written off in the last 10 years,  but my provincial loan has gone into default and is now currently crown debt. They have been taking my GST credits against it. I called Service Nova Scotia today, explaining the situation and that I could prove I have been a full-time education for the past 10 years, to see if I can try and get my loan out of default. and the woman I spoke to said there was nothing she could do. She told me to call Nova Scotia student  Assistance who were very helpful, and said that it was a ‘ direct lend’  that was now handled by Resolve. Resolve have no record of the loan, they told me to call Royal Bank, who also have no record of it. I tried to call back Nova Scotia student assistance office, but wasn’t able to get through. So what do I do now?
