Hey all, thanks for taking the time to read this...

I've been living abroad for about two years and have had an empty TD bank account just kind of sitting in Canada, waiting for me to come home.

I came back around two months ago and touched base with TD to get a new access card and see whats up, etc. etc. Turns out, they had closed my account for "loss prevention" reasons.

NSLSC had been, since July, trying to take out around 400$ each month -- my studies ended this year so that makes sense, I suppose. They tried to take payments out each month, and obviously because I had no money in the account I kept getting TD overdrawn bank fees as penalty. $49.95 each time...

So now I have a big debt, like $250, that I have to pay to TD (they've sent it to a collections agency so I have to pay it that way). I don't want to pay this debt and don't think I should have to:

Once I got back in September I applied for repayment assistance and was accepted, as my income is very very small. So my repayment assistance has covered me from July - December-ish.

TLDR Essentially I want to know if I can call NSLSC and request they pay the fines incurred from them taking out money from my empty account. Especially since they've approved my Repayment Assistance for the time period when they were attempting to take out the money. And my income has never been above that which qualifies for repayment assistance.

Thanks in advance for your answers...
