I just received a Statement of Claim indicating that I am being sued by the Court of Queen's Bench (Calgary, Alberta.) I went to school in Canada but I am British (and Canadian) and have lived in Britain since 2001. It is a Canada Student Loan for which I am being sued.
My left university in 2000/01, there were some payments made in 2003.
I am being sued for the remaining principle of my loan plus expenses.
So, does anyone know the following?
1. How much authority is there in this case given it's in Canada and I am a UK resident/citizen? 2. What are the expenses likely to be? 3. What would happen if I ignored the Notice? 4. I can't afford a lawyer - any info on what do if I just want to (assuming am able to) pay up? 5. Can I negotiate terms of repayment simply by writing to the Lawyer?
Many thanks, all help appreciated.

Look at that. I got it. You only had to click it once. The tech problem appears to be fixed. You are 4 hours ahead of me though, so you will have to specify a time when you want me to call.
Cheers,
Johnny
