So here is my issue and im hoping someone has a direction to send me in. In 1997 I became ill during my last year of high school. I was told I would have a few years of a somewhat normal life before I would require life sustaining treatments. So I decided to make the best of it apply for osap and attend school. Upon gradutating in 2002 I became really ill and hospitalized for the next year. In this time i missed the six month window to deal with my financial obligations regarding osap. Not only that but other bills became defaulted. So here i sit in 2012 with 23,000 dollars in debt and have been reciving notices from a collection agency who claims to be hired by the government to collect the debt. Im not in a positon to pay any debt as im recieving odsp. My condition is not expected to improve unless i recieve a transplant which is not anytime in the near future possibly another ten years. Im wondering if there is any forgiveness im able to apply to? Can anyone provide any avenues I may be able to look into?

Ok so step one done, I called the number of the canlearn site they transferred me to the Canada student Loans branch as they handle the loan forgiveness for permanent disabilty. They asked a few questions and im assuming they are flooded with a lot of people because the person on the other line repeatedly informed me of the people that elligble for such a benifit. After he took my updated address and phone number, I was informed the forms would arrive next week. Ok Ill post step 2.
