I had a loan in default and had to pay $2700 to get off of Revenue Canada's hands. In June I called the Canada Student Loans Program to be brought back into the Rehabilitation Program, due to financial difficulty. I was told it takes up to 8 weeks to process my request and that they would send paper work to fill out. If I was not approved, I could appeal or negotiate a smaller monthly payment.

I expected to hear from them in early October, but never heard from them. Mid-November I call and find out they do have a record of my request, but had a *clerical error * and never processed it - my loan was still in default and collecting interest. Despite their admission of wrong-doing, Canada Student Loans is refusing to be accountable and claims its my responsibility to pay the $700.00 interest charge (and counting) that accumulated while I awaited their paperwork. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was assured they would give me a call to discuss. Guess what, haven't heard from them!
