Hi!

I'm an American and my wife is Canadian. She currently has 100k in private loans that are delinquent. She stopped making payments on them about two years ago. She graduated professional school years ago (not sure if this matters). The collections agency garnished her savings account in canada. I'm presently a dental student and we have no plans to move to Canada in the next four years or so at least.

1) What type of professional should we be working with to tackle this issue?
2) Can they garnish her wages in the US?
3) Is there a difference between working with an insolvency trustee or a private lawyer to negotiate the debt?
4) What would you do in this position?
