A student loan debt for $20,000 is suddenly showing up on my credit report dated as starting last year. I have not incurred any student loan debt in 20+ years. I believe this date is the date FDR took over the debt. I do not acknowledge this debt and although my credit score is very good it is still on the report. Should this even be showing up on my report as active? How can an alleged 20 year old debt be active? Does this even mean anything or just a credit agency trying to collect on an ancient debt they purchased regardless of it being valid/invalid.

It's the Ontario Ministry. Ontario Student Loan. There are no limitations that bind the government from recovering it, or reporting it as long as it remains unpaid.
