This website is a testimony to the problems Canadian Student Loan borrowers experienced from approximately 1996 to 2008 and until their loans were paid off.

The privatization of the Student Loans system by the Chretien and Martin Liberal governments broke the system and defaulted thousands of borrowers who were trying to pay their loans. There were even stories of suicide due to the harassment of borrowers.

Read the report that I prepared back in 2007 here. Canada Student Loans-The Need for Change Fortunately the new Conservative government at the time revamped the program and fixed the system for new borrowers, but borrowers under the previous program were left with ruined credit and continued harassment from debt collectors.

I call on the Canadian Government to apologize to the borrowers affected by this fiasco and make amends.

Unfortunately the Liberal government is again clobbering the Education system with their changes to International Student Visas. Yes, there's a problem, but instead of a well thought out plan, they have pulled the emergency brake on the train causing a derailment. This has introduced unprecedented instability for both private and public education institutions who serve both international and local students.

Universities have been forced to cancel programs and layoff hundreds if not thousands of full-time and contract instructors.

Again, the Liberal government has messed up the education environment.

I have a student loan from well over 10 yrs ago that i have NOT acknowledged. I have done my taxes once in all this time . 1st time was 2006. and not again until today. I just found out now they did hold my taxes that yr but issued me a GST . *i had moved and didnt think i was gettin it* they are now in the process of re-sending it. I recently called revenue canada to get my t4s and t5s from 2007/08/09 and while i was talking to the lady she said as she sees it..there was no lein on me. I dont get this...All they took from me in the past(2006) is $98.00 in and i havent filed since..where did they lein go?? even the man at H&R was in disbelief it would be gone and would not let me file back yrs today (unless i paid up front )until he can contact revenue Canada on monday to be sure there is no lein..im confused and scared lol. its costing me $300 to file these yrs and im worried. do u think this could mean my loan is stats barred?? and if it is does this mean the lein is lifted or do they still take taxes???
